It was a dream come true for five tribal students of Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential schools who clinched 4 gold in Kata and 5 silver medals in Fighting categories at International Karate championship held in Dubai from May 10th to 11th, 2018. The event witnessed participation of contestants from 49 countries. “I am excited and humbled an elated Sridivya said, who secured a gold medal in Kata category and a silver medal in Fighting category”. Winning international medals is a huge morale booster as I prepare for major international championships ahead, including Tokyo Olympics, she remarked.Another student Pavanika, an orphan belonging to the primitive tribal group studying at Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential School, Kothaguda, Mahabubabad, clinched silver medals in both Kata and Fighting categories. I never even dreamt that I would cross the Indian borders and go to Dubai to participate in an International Karate Championship considering my poor tribal background”.

Thanks to the chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his encouragement and support for overall development of tribal children, particularly girls under the KG-PG Mission and all this was made possible because of the support of the government of Telangana.
